About Us

Vertical Horizonz Industry Training Group was established in 2002 when it became obvious that there was a need within industry for a business that could cater to the diverse range of needs that many of New Zealands’ companies face. With this in mind, and the continued success of the New Zealand operation, many of the companies clients requested training for their Australian operation. This began the Vertical Horizonz Australia venture.

Vertical Horizonz Australia was approved to deliver training in 2004 as a Registered Training Organisation. The company began delivering the core training unit Employ Fall Arrest Systems (30470QLD) with vigor.

Industry has supported the competency based training Vertical Horizonz Australia has being delivering, and so in this fashion has extended its scope of registration to include the following training programs;

  • Height Safety
  • Confined Space
  • First Aid
  • Transport
  • Plant - Loadshifting for licensing

With strict legislative requirements regulating workers health and safety it is paramount that the management and training needs of today’s workers are professionally catered for.

We believe that by drawing the best and most experienced trainers under the umbrella of a single Registered Training Organisation, combined with strategic alliances with other training providers and professionals in compliance and health management we can offer the most comprehensive of training and compliance managerial programs at the best possible value for your organisation.


Biography: Bruce Mazengarb (Chairman)
Bruce has spent a large part of his career in the New Zealand Army. He began as an infantry soldier and spent nine years with the NZ Special Air Service (NZ SAS). Other appointments in the military included chief instructor at the Army Adventure Training School and the NZ Officer Cadet School.

Following Army life Bruce launched Vertical Horizonz Ltd, he has worked at height for more than 20 years and in the past 18 years has specialised in training people in this field. He is based in Ohakune and has leadership roles within the Ruapehu Search and Rescue Group and the Alpine Search and Rescue Team. He is one of the first people to be contacted if someone goes missing on Mount Ruapehu.

Bruce is the owner of Vertical Horizonz and the establishment of the Vertical Horizonz Industry Training Group, as a PTE in its own right, was a logical progression for Bruce. He has successfully delivered a large number of courses to experienced industry operators and is highly respected in the Training Industry.
